Dogs Running

Daycare Policy

Required vaccinations:

All dogs entering the facility must have up-to-date vaccinations on record. Owners must submit proof from the veterinarian that their dog is current on the following vaccinations:

  • Rabies (1 year or 3 year)

  • Distemper/ Parvo ( 1 year of 3 year)

  • Bordetella

  • Canine influenza- part 1 and part 2

Parasite prevention:

All dogs entering the facility must be free of parasites, including fleas, ticks and intestinal parasites. For Daycare attendance, we do require that all dogs be on year-round heartworm and flea preventative prescribed by their Veterinarian as well as be current on annual fecal testing. Tick prevention is recommended and we encourage you to talk to your Veterinarian about appropriate products.

Age:

All dogs entering daycare must be 4 months of age or older and have basic recall and training. We will accept unneutered/unspayed dogs as long as they pass their 3 trial days of daycare. If at any time the dog becomes a problem we do have the right to suspend them from daycare until spayed or neutered and or has better behavior.

Sex:

All dogs over the age of 1 entering daycare must be spayed or neutered.

Health:

All dogs entering the facility must be in good health and free from any condition that could potentially jeopardize the health of other dogs. Dogs that have been ill with a communicable ailment in the last 30 days will require veterinarian certification of health to return to Daycare.

Behavior:

Just like you have to teach and enforce sociable behaviors in a daycare for children, we have to teach and enforce sociable behaviors in order to have a fun, safe, well run doggy daycare. Dogs play hard, and even get into “disagreements” with one another. That is normal and to be expected. What we don’t allow is aggression, or behaviors that could lead to a full blown fight. So, we have a set of guidelines for the dogs, to allow them to be dogs, yet not allowing them to harm one another or any person. We are not a training facility but we work with your dogs to promote and enforce good behavior. We require your dog to be a good listener, have good recall, and have basic obedience. Please understand that there are risks and benefits associated with group socialization. While the socialization and play is closely and carefully monitored by staff to prevent injury, it is still possible that during the course of normal play your dog may receive minor nicks and scratches from roughhousing with other dogs. Any injury will be pointed out by staff at pick up

Dress code:

All dogs must come into the building wearing a collar and a leash. Collars should be neither too tight nor too loose. Identification on their “daycare collar” is recommended. All collars, leashes, or clothing will be removed as soon as they get put into their assigned spot.

Attendance Policy:

Reservations are required for daycare. If you are unable to keep your reservation we kindly ask that you cancel with as much advance notice as possible.

Late fees:

Because we value our employees time, if they need to wait for you because you are late, you will be charged $5.00 for every 5 minutes.

Packages:

All daycare packages are non-refundable and expire if unused after 1 year.

Payments/Balance owed:

Customers are responsible for keeping up with and knowing when their package is going to expire and needs to be renewed. We are happy to let you know how many days are left when asking. All payments are expected to be made by the end of your dog's daycare week.

Risk/ Liability:

First and foremost, the safety and well being of your pet(s) is of the highest importance. Ensuring that your pet remains safe and well cared for is our first responsibility and as such we take it very seriously. At Lake Farm Kennels, we strive to provide your dog with excellent care and a fun experience during their stay.

While we strive to achieve a safe environment for all dogs, we cannot prevent accidents, injuries, illnesses or changes in behavior. When you bring your dog to Lake Farm Kennels, you accept these risks and you release Lake Farm Kennels  and its staff from all liability arising from the occurrence of such events. In addition, Lake Farm Kennels will not pay for vet bills if your dog becomes sick or is injured while with us.

While we do our best to supervise all activity, we cannot prevent injuries and accidents 100%. While accidents and injuries can occur at any time, there is a greater risk of an accident or injury if a dog participates in group play. Our group play is well staffed and our supervisors are trained, but they are working with live animals that can be unpredictable. Dogs can sometimes receive puncture wounds or cuts, scratches, broken nails, sore paw pads, sprains or other injuries in group play. You need to be sure that you are comfortable with this prior to choosing group play for your dog. Also, it is important to check over your dog after they have participated in group play. While our staff checks over all dogs, punctures and cuts can sometimes be missed and can sometimes happen without our staff’s awareness. Even a small cut or puncture can become infected or cause more serious issues if not cleaned and properly cared for. It is your responsibility to closely check your dog for any injuries and to ensure that they receive the proper care.

Injury and illness are not common here, but these risks exist any time that dogs are in group play. This is a risk you take when bringing your dog to daycare, similar to taking your dog to the park or beach. We would argue that the risk is actually much lower here because of our controlled environment, knowledge of dogs and behaviors, and our vaccination requirements.
